English Speaking "The stronger person is not the one making the most noise but the one who can quietly direct the conversation toward defining and solving problems."
-Aaron T. Beck While meeting with Mackenzie, you’ll quickly be put at ease with her warmth and genuine desire to help. She is dedicated to providing treatment that is both compassionate and deeply effective. Mackenzie embraces a collaborative, strengths-based philosophy, guiding clients to reshape their thinking and behaviors for profound personal growth, pillars of her Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach. She aims to help you view your challenges holistically and build a practical toolkit of skills that can be applied to any situation.
Mackenzie's path to becoming a mental health professional was sparked in the midst of her academic career, particularly as her understanding and expertise grew around the intersections of our wellbeing: biological, psychological, and social. Witnessing how physical health struggles profoundly impact mental and social well-being, she became a fervent advocate for holistic, integrative care. She has extensive experience and professional training working with individuals, couples, and families navigating the complexities of mild to severe medical diagnoses and physical injuries, including conditions such as brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, cancer, heart disease, and long-term neurological diseases. A significant part of her passion lies in assisting those affected by women's health issues, such as postpartum depression, miscarriage, STD diagnoses, menopause, and infertility. What truly inspires Mackenzie as a therapist is observing her clients make significant breakthroughs and dismantle long-standing negative patterns. Lastly, Mackenzie is skilled in supporting and assisting adult survivors of abuse or those wrestling with depression or anxiety. Mackenzie earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Carolina University. While she has called Texas home for most of her life, she and her husband settled in West Texas in early 2023, quickly becoming part of our vibrant community. When she's not in session, Mackenzie enjoys catching live music at local venues like Cooks Garage and The Blue Light, relaxing with a book, or taking their dog to the park. Her favorite local bite is a burger and twisted taters from Caprock. For a bit of comfort, she'll often put on Friends—and don't be surprised if she quotes it frequently! As for her car's soundtrack, you can almost always expect to hear red dirt music on shuffle, a nod to her Texas roots.
