Driven by personal experiences with clinicians who empowered her during challenging times, Heather felt inspired to help others in the same transformative way. With a heart for service, she found her calling in the helping profession, particularly drawn to family systems and the intricate dynamics within them. Heather’s journey led her to earn her Master of Science in Couple, Marriage, and Family Therapy from Texas Tech University.
Heather embraces a holistic and humanistic approach to counseling. She cultivates an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere where clients feel safe to explore various facets of themselves and their relationships. By focusing on underlying factors influencing challenges, she works towards creating meaningful and lasting change. Heather’s experiential approach engages clients dynamically, using creative techniques to delve into emotions, relationships, and personal experiences. Heather is passionate about supporting underrepresented populations, drawing from 15 years of experience working with a variety of different people, communities, and backgrounds. She excels in working with couples facing infidelity, and communication issues, finding immense satisfaction in witnessing their journey from dysfunction to healthy dynamics. What Heather values most in her clients is their courage and uniqueness. She cherishes the moments when clients reveal their true selves and embark on a journey of growth. The trust clients place in her to uncover hidden aspects of themselves is a privilege she deeply appreciates. Heather finds joy in watching individuals, couples, and families grow into their full potential and develop richer self-awareness. The shift in how clients experience and relate to each other is one of her favorite aspects of being a therapist. Having moved from Las Vegas to West Texas at the age of 11, Heather considers herself a Texan at heart. She has called Lubbock home for 30 years and cherishes the community deeply. Heather enjoys planting flowers in her yard and spending time with her family at the drive-in movie theater. She is a fan of The Plaza, where she relishes great chips and salsa followed by chicken fajitas, appreciating not only the food but also the friendly atmosphere and staff.
