Annelise BillingsLicensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Now accepting clients on Mondays and Fridays When you sit down with Annelise, you'll quickly notice how much she genuinely loves being a therapist. She creates a warm, down-to-earth space where you can feel seen and heard without judgment. Therapy is hard work—it takes courage to open up to a stranger about the most tender and difficult parts of your life. Annelise approaches every session with the core belief that you are already capable, doing the best you can with the tools you have, and possess the internal resources needed to navigate your challenges. Sometimes, you just need a collaborative partner to help bring them to the surface.
Annelise’s path to the therapy room wasn't a straight line, but every step shaped how she connects with clients today. She started her career as a teacher, and later, while living overseas, worked as a birth doula supporting military couples during labor and delivery. It was through her own life experiences—and experiencing firsthand how a marriage and family therapist helped her own family navigate a difficult chapter—that she found the courage to pursue this work professionally. She earned her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from East Carolina University and is currently expanding her expertise as a PhD student in the CMFT program at Texas Tech University. In the therapy room, Annelise draws heavily on the Satir experiential model, focusing on helping clients find "peace within, peace between, and peace among." Practically, this means she combines deep empathy with actionable Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques to help you cope with current challenges, change old patterns, and build a healthier path forward. As a wife of 20 years and a mother of six, Annelise brings a grounded, real-world perspective to her work. She has extensive experience working with kids of all ages and their parents, and she holds a special passion for women's health issues that impact the couple and the broader family system. Her primary areas of focus include:
Annelise has been a part of the West Texas community for a little over a year. A self-proclaimed homebody, when she isn’t at the clinic or working on her doctorate, you’ll likely find her reading, playing board games with her kids, or catching up on Survivor and K-Dramas. On nicer days, she loves taking evening walks through her neighborhood with her husband and goldendoodle, Penny. When it is not too hot, Annelise (and her dog) are also big fans of hiking at Palo Duro or Caprock Canyons on the weekends. After a long day, while she may be a homebody, she cannot resist swinging by Torchy’s for an Avocado taco or some delicious Pad Thai from Mam’s Thai Cuisine.
